Seeking legal secretary/receptionist interested in training to become a Paralegal. The primary docket includes medical malpractice defense, general civil litigation, regulatory audit work in the healthcare field, Texas Medical Board complaints and complex litigation that arises therefrom.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting with preparing legal documents including correspondence, discovery, pleadings, etc.
• Scheduling deadlines and calendaring reminders.
• Scheduling client meetings, depositions, mediations, and court appearances.
• Handling non-billable tasks for Paralegals, including preparing and updating active file lists.
• E-filing with State and Federal Courts.
• Preparing notebooks for depositions, mediations, and trials.

Requirements:

• Excellent written (grammar/proof reading) and verbal communications skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and conversion of PDF documents.
• Strong organizational skills; Able to prioritize work and multi-task.
• High level of discretion and confidentiality required.
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.

Comments:

• The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with teammates as well as clients.
• Current enrollment in an ABA approved Paralegal program preferred.
• 34 hours per week max.
• Paid on billables only. 

We are looking for someone who would like to train and grow within the firm, eventually moving to a Paralegal position.
