Job Description:

The School of Art & Art History in the College of the Arts is seeking models of any body type and age to pose for student artists working in different visual media aspects. The models pose for art classes, holding various static poses for students to draw, paint, or create art on other mediums, from a living reference. The successful candidate will be communicative and arrive promptly at scheduled sessions. Models pose in various levels of dress and nudity for up to 3 hours, with a 5-minute break every 15-20 minutes.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a static pose in various levels of dress, including fully nude, for up to 15-20 minutes at time over a 3-hour class period (holding the pose for 15-20 minutes followed by a 5 minute break) as required for figure-drawing instruction in a professional visual arts environment
  • Holds a variety of poses, including standing poses/without movement, for varied durations; and/or sequential poses when instructed.
  • Arrive on time and be prepared for scheduled modeling sessions, with adequate communication regarding availability.

TIME REQUIRED: Models work intermittently, varying shifts on an as needed basis as scheduled by the SA+AH faculty or Model Coordinator. Hours may include evenings and weekends.

Expected Salary:

$18 hourly

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years old or older.
  • Ability and willingness to model in various states of dress, including nude, consistent with standard practices in collegiate figure-drawing courses.
  • Ability to safely maintain seated, standing, or reclined poses for short intervals, with regular breaks provided.
  • Must have a valid E-mail address that is checked on a regular basis (at least weekly).
  • Must be able to arrive on time and be prepared to begin at the scheduled start of the session

Preferred:

The successful candidate will bring to the position:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience as a figure model or related physical/expressive disciplines such as yoga, dance, theater, or athletics.
  • Familiarity with visual arts is preferred.
  • Evidence of success in promoting an environment that advances pluralism, curiosity, viewpoint diversity, open discourse, and the well-being of all.
