PROJECT LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT

JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY

Under general supervision of a Team Leader, and direct supervision of a Senior Landscape Architect, a Project Landscape Architect is responsible for landscape architectural design tasks, including plan preparation and review, quantity take-os, estimations of probable cost, technical specication writing, inspections, and other tasks as may be required. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in design, project management, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams working in a fast-paced environment.

TYPICAL PROJECTS

Typical projects are public and private innovative, sustainable, and aesthetically pleasing outdoor spaces that enhance communities and enrich lives. Example projects range from large-scale public works to intimate landscape projects. Projects may include collaboration on roads and bridge projects, design of trails, sidewalks, storm water facilities, irrigation systems, botanical and biological systems, and site development.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Research design options codes and regulations applicable to the project and provide schematic level and preliminary designs while working closely with other team members.
  • Provide detailed nal designs and produce mark-ups to incorporate in drawings.
  • Perform site inventory, analysis, detailed calculations and design.
  • Produce technical reports and plans.
  • May serve as a designated client contact on some projects.
  • Perform quantity take-os and prepare estimation of probable costs for projects.
  • Coordinate directly with land surveyors on project surveying.
  • Coordinate directly with CAD designers activities.
  • Coordinate work with outside consultants.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and/or Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp and other design software to prepare design documents, basic drawings, and renderings.
  • Perform eld activities during design and/or construction such as observe and record existing eld conditions, take and verify measurements within project area as necessary.
  • Prepare construction specications for various types of projects.
  • Review shop drawings and material certications.
  • Speak to groups and present project details and facilitate public meetings for input.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE

Bachelors or Masters degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited college or university. Candidate should be licensure tract or hold a Professional Landscape Architecture License in the State of Missouri.

Specic vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus. Riding and/or driving in a vehicle is commonly required for up to 6 hours at a time.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position, with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week. However, most work weeks will be 40 or more hours. Hours are somewhat exible and some late evenings and/ or weekends may be required.

TRAVEL

There may be occasional overnight travel for this position. Some local day travel may also be required.

SKILLS AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Prociency with AutoCAD Civil and/or Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp and other design software.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Oce Suite
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphic communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of plant materials, hardscaping, and sustainable design principles.
  • Land planning and master planning
