Job Description

The Youth Empowerment & Stability Foundation is currently seeking dedicated, values-aligned individuals to join our Board of Directors as we continue to grow and deepen our impact in the community.

About Us

The Youth Empowerment & Stability Foundation is a grassroots, community-based nonprofit committed to empowering youth and young adults to achieve self-sufficiency, stability, resilience, and meaningful civic and community engagement. Our work is grounded in equity, lived experience, and youth-centered leadership, ensuring that young people are not only served—but heard, supported, and equipped to lead.

As a developing organization, our Board plays a critical role in shaping our direction, strengthening our foundation, and helping us build sustainable systems that support long-term impact.

Role of the Board

Members of the Board of Directors serve as the governing and fiduciary body of the organization. Board Members work in partnership with organizational leadership to provide strategic guidance, financial oversight, and community advocacy while helping the organization grow responsibly and ethically.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Mission & Strategic Leadership

  • Uphold and advance the mission, vision, and values of the organization
  • Help set strategic priorities that reflect community needs and youth voice
  • Support the development and evaluation of programs and initiatives

Financial Stewardship & Fundraising

  • Provide oversight of the organization’s financial health and sustainability
  • Support budgeting, financial planning, and resource development
  • Commit to personally fundraising or helping the organization raise at least $2,500 annually , through donor outreach, events, partnerships, campaigns, or other fundraising efforts (support and guidance provided)

Governance & Accountability

  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit laws, bylaws, and ethical standards
  • Participate in board decision-making and policy development
  • Uphold transparency, accountability, and best practices in governance

Community Advocacy & Partnerships

  • Serve as an ambassador for the organization in the community
  • Leverage personal and professional networks to build partnerships and awareness
  • Promote the organization’s mission, programs, and impact

Organizational Growth & Impact

  • Review program outcomes and community impact
  • Support continuous improvement and sustainable growth
  • Ensure equity, inclusion, and lived experience remain central to decision-making

Time Commitment

  • Attend regular board meetings and strategic planning sessions
  • Review materials in advance and engage in thoughtful discussion
  • Serve on committees or working groups as needed
  • Participate in key organizational or community events when possible

This is a volunteer, unpaid position .

Who Should Apply
